Daesh has reportedly beheaded a Syrian imam after accusing him of 'insulting God,' AFP has reported.
The man was executed in the early hours of Thursday morning, sources told the Syrian Observartory for Human Rights (SOHR.) He was a mosque imam from the village of Abu Khuyut, not far from Hasakeh city in northern Syria.
He was arrested from a house owned by one of his sons after watching executions carried about by the group and cursing because God had allowed them, according to the SOHR.
Three of the Syrian imam's sons were Daesh fighters. It is the first time the Islamist militant group has killed a religious official for blasphemy.
The group has carried out a large number of atrocities in Syria and Iraq since last summer.
