Syrian President Bashar Assad on Wednesday issued licenses for the country's first two private universities, the official Syrian news agency said.
The Private Qalamon University will be built in the city
of Deir Attyieh, 90 kilometers north of Damascus, while Maamoun Private University for Sciences and Technology will be built in Hasake province, 700 kilometers northeast of Damascus, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.
