Syria is seeking installation of a passenger train between Tehran and Damascus via the Turkish capital Istanbul, reported Iran News Agency (IRNA), quoting chief of Syrian railways, Mohammed Ayed Gazal, who is currently on a visit to Tehran.
Gazal held talks with his Iranian counterpart, Rahman Dadman, and discussed the possibilities of establishing "the railway" as soon as possible, said IRNA.
Iran had earlier agreed to undertake a study on the construction of an Anakhsi-Akari railway in Syria.
Syrian Railways has also voiced its readiness to make use of Iranian railway technology in the construction of three express lines, said the agency.
During the meeting the two sides also discussed upgrading their technical, educational and research cooperation as well as a number of other issues.
The Syrian official, leading a delegation of experts, arrived in Tehran on Friday for a one-week stay, said IRNA - Albawaba.com
