ALBAWABA - Syria Civil Defense teams are working very hard to stop the spread of the fire that erupted in the Latakia forest.

In a post on X, Syrian civil defense wrote, "The firefighting teams of the Syrian Civil Defense and the Forestry Firefighting Brigades continued their efforts since more than six hours ago in combating the flames in the Ras al-Basit forests in the Latakia countryside at dawn today, Tuesday, Nov. 25, under difficult conditions due to the increasing wind speed and the drought that accelerates the spread of the fires."

A video accompanied the statement showed fire in the forest in Latakia city, while several rescue workers were seen trying to put out the fire.

A forest fire broke out on the Al-Iman-Al-Basit road on Monday, and firefighting teams worked to contain and control it as quickly as possible.

The Civil Defense reported that firefighting teams managed to control the blaze despite the rugged terrain and steep rocky cliffs, using more than 40 fire hoses to reach the fire's hotspots. Teams continue to monitor the site to ensure the fire does not reignite.
