Egypt has detected its first case of the swine flu virus in a 12-year-old American girl, a Cairo-based official at the World Health Organisation said on Tuesday, according to Reuters. Last month, the Egyptian authorities started slaughtering some 300,000 pigs as a preventative measure to stop the spread of the swine flu.
