Sweden announced on Thursday that it will be sending troops to Iraq to join in the fight against Daesh, Reuters reports.

Thirty-five Swedish troops will join other international forces in northern Iraq to provide training to the Iraqi military.

"Cooperation against terrorism is the key to success. Sweden will continue to support to these common efforts," Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom and Minister of Defense Peter Hultqvist said in a signed article in daily Dagens Nyheter.

If the situation deteriorates, Sweden will consider expanding the mission to upwards of 120 troops.
