ِALBAWABA - According to the US Supreme Court, former President Donald Trump is entitled to "partial immunity" with regard to his participation in the Capitol riot on January 6 and his alleged meddling in the 2020 presidential election.

The Supreme Court justices decided by a vote of 6-3 that Trump is not subject to prosecution for his official acts while in office. But his private behavior is not protected by this immunity. "Our constitutional structure of separated powers necessitates that a former president possesses partial immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts during their tenure," Chief Justice John Roberts said in explaining the decision.

However, he emphasized that the President is subject to the law, saying, "The President is not exempt from prosecution for conduct taken outside of the office, and not all of his actions are authorized. The law governs the President."

A lower federal court has been asked to remand the case in order to determine whether Trump's actions in the relevant topics should be considered official or not. More briefings and hearings are probably going to come from this procedure, which might push out the trial date.

Trump, who is accused of instigating the Capitol riot and meddling in the 2020 election, argued that his acts were protected by "Presidential immunity" and asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the case.
