A Sunni militant group calling itself 'the Brigades of Aisha' has claimed responsibility for the car bomb that ripped through southern Beirut on Thursday evening.
The bomb, which killed 20 people according to Lebanese daily The Daily Star, was targeting the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah, according to a statement made by the Brigade group that was run by Reuters.
"This is the second time that we decide the place of the battle and its timing...And you will see more, God willing," said a masked man, who was surrounded by other members of the group brandishing rifles, in a video statement addressed to Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, according to Reuters.
The death toll of the blast is rising, with figures ranging from 7, as reported by AFP, to more than 20, according to Lebanese security sources.
