Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized an internal trip for 28 high school and university students, who joined the Chamber’s summer training programme, to Shangri la Hotel in Dubai. The visit came in line with the Chamber’s effort to introduce the participating students to types of business practices in different economic sectors, and to provide them with information and professional skills that qualify them to work in major companies and establishments in the future.

The students’ trip was arranged by the Human Resources Department at Dubai Chamber with the aim to develop the UAE national students’ skills and encourage them to get involved in a real and integrated business environment.

Azzah Al Sharhan, Executive Director of the Human Resources Department, said “Dubai Chamber has prepared a programme of internal visits for the summer training students to various vital establishments of different sectors such as tourism and trade to introduce them to the real atmosphere of work and help them choose the type of jobs they plan to get in the future,” said Al Sharhan.

She pointed out that the students’ visit to Shangri la Hotel copes with Dubai Chamber’s strategy in enhancing cooperation with the establishments of private sector due to its key role in the development process of Dubai’s economy. Its role is clearly reflected in the increasing number of mega projects which helped turning Dubai into an attractive tourist destination. More than 7 million visitors occupied the emirate’s 324 hotels that include more than 33,731 rooms in 2007.

The summer training students toured Shangri la Hotel and were introduced to its various departments and facilities by the hotel managers and employees who conducted a presentation about the hotel and the hospitality business they are running.

Another trip is scheduled for the summer training students to Dubai Outlet Mall next month. The mall is the first ‘outlet’ concept mall in the Middle East, taking retailing to new heights. It offers shoppers big savings on premium and top fashion brands all year round.
