A suicide bomber has attacked a police station in the city of Solo, Indonesia, killing himself and wounding a local police official, a police spokesman said.

According to local reports, the attacker was riding a motorbike and blew himself up at the gate after he was prevented from entering the police station, which is the largest in Solo.

Shortly after the attack, President Joko Widodo, who is from Solo and a former mayor of the town, ordered police to arrest others that may have been connected to the suicide bomber.

"I have asked the police chief to chase down the network and uncover who is the suicide bomber," the president told reporters. "We hope for the people to remain calm in this last fasting day. No need to be scared.”

No group has claimed responsibility but intelligence chief Sutiyoso said ISIS is the primary suspect.

The attack on Tuesday morning comes les than a month after suicide bombings were reportedly foiled in the country’s second largest city, Surabaya.

Solo is a hotbed of Islamic radicalism in Java, one of Indonesia’s main islands. The city is home to the fundamentalist Al Mukmin Islamic boarding school founded by Abu Bakar Bashir, the aging spiritual leader of the Bali bombers, which produced a generation of violent militants.
