The youngest son of former Indonesian president Suharto, under investigation for possible links to bombings in Jakarta, was quizzed for more than two hours at police headquarters here on Saturday, witnesses said.
"Tommy" Hutomo Mandala Putra, 37, arrived in a private vehicle at the headquarters around mid-morning, accompanied only by his driver, and left a little over two hours later, an AFP reporter said.
"I came here at my own initiative rather than be chased by police," Tommy said before entering the building.
On Friday Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid said he had ordered Tommy's arrest.
Mobbed by reporters when he emerged from the police headquarters, Tommy said, "ask them if they have proof," when questioned on whether he was connected to the bombings.
"I am very disappointed with Gus Dur's (Wahid's nickname) statement," he said.
Police detective chief Senior Superintendent Harry Montolalu told reporters that Tommy had shown up in respone to a summons.
"Mr. Tommy feels that he is not involved. We verbally summoned him and he willingly showed up," Montolalu said.
Police have said they have insufficient evidence to arrest him, but wanted to question him over a rash of bombings in the capital, including a blast that killed 10 people at the Jakarta Stock Exchange on Wednesday -- JAKARTA(AFP)
