ALBAWABA - The Sudanese government accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing "genocide" and called on the international community to hold the paramilitary forces accountable for their actions.

"Sudan addresses this assembly at the moment of profound national tragedy, and deep international concern," Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Abdelazim Salim Mohamed said on Tuesday at a high-level UN General Assembly meeting.

According to the Anadolu Agency, the UN meeting was held to mark the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide.

The minister added, "These crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia are not hidden. They are documented. They are public. And they demand more than an expression of concern. They demand accountability."

The senior diplomat detailed that Sudanese civilians in El-Fasher and other areas have been subjected to mass killings, sexual violence, forced displacement and deliberate destruction of evidence by the RSF.

Two days ago, the RSF forces announced total control over the Heglig facility, the country's largest oil field, which is located in the Kordofan region on the country’s southern border, forcing the evacuation of its staff.
