A 20-kilometer road in Sudan has been named after UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, according to an announcement made in Khartoum by Dr. Abdul Halim Al Muta'afa, Governor of Khartoum.

Until now, known as the Nile Road, the Sheikh Zayed Road links the three major towns of Khartoum with the most significant bridge in the Sudanese capital, stretching parallel to the Blue Nile, and overseeing the republic house and most of the ministries and other important government premises, Gulf News said.

In a statement at the press conference, the governor conveyed that the road was named after Sheikh Zayed in honor of the UAE President and in recognition of the significant role he continues to play in the Arab nation’s interest.

"This road, which is one of the most beautiful roads in Khartoum, now bears the most beautiful name in the Arab nation," Al Muta'afa expressed. (Albawaba.com)
