SUBWAY® Restaurants, the world's largest sandwich chain with nearly 33,000 outlets worldwide, targets the opening of its 100th outlet in the UAE by end of July 2010, and take the total number to over 115 by the end of the year.
Marwan Abdul Malik Al-Hamar, SUBWAY® Restaurants Development Agent for UAE, said: "We currently have 91 outlets in the UAE and we look forward to opening our 100th store later this year, making UAE the first country in MEA region to achieve this milestone. Our strategic growth plan is to open the 200th SUBWAY® outlet by 2015."
The growth outlook of SUBWAY® Restaurants in the UAE follows the recent opening of its 100th store in the Russian Federation. The store was opened by Evgeny Rudenko and it is the 44th SUBWAY® store in Moscow. "We congratulate our fellow franchisees in the Russia federation on their great success," added Al-Hamar.
"All SUBWAY® Restaurants are individually owned and operated by independent franchisees, which work for and with the communities to deliver a value-added customer experience while partnering with the growth of the economy. In the UAE, we have already created almost 1,000 jobs with more people to be hired with the imminent outlet openings," he explained.
Marc Kreder, the Subway European Regional Director said: "We are very happy to report that Subway Russia has reached the 100 open-store milestone. This is an incredible result and Russia is only the 5th country in our European Region to reach this magic number after the UK, Germany, France and Ireland."
Kevin Graham, president of SUBWAY® Russia, said: "Despite the recent and well-publicized downturn in the world economy, we have continued to experience strong growth in store count which is an excellent testament to the faith and resilience of our franchisees and the overall attraction of the brand. We are very proud of our franchise partners, without whom we would not have been able to reach this important milestone. We salute them!"
SUBWAY® was recently named the No.1 Franchise for 2010 in the prestigious Entrepreneur Magazine's 'Franchise 500' rankings. This is 17th time that Subway has topped the chart, having first won the award in 1988.
Worldwide, the SUBWAY® chain has created over an estimated 320,000 full and part-time jobs.
