STS Provides NITC with Latest IT Solutions and Services


Starting an initiative to improve NITC’s main Data Center with the aim to empower the technical services that it offers to various governmental organizations, Dr. Haidar Fraihat, General Manager of the National Information Technology Center and Humam Mufti, STS General Manager signed an agreement that will see STS, Jordan’s leading IT provider furnish the center with a fully-fledged platform for email services and web hosting that contains Sun Microsystems’ latest servers and storage equipment, a specialized bundle of Cisco integrated networks, leading-edge Dell machines and Microsoft’s latest solutions and specialized services. In addition, STS will provide ISP class messaging based on Sun Java software along with an advanced redundant web hosting solution. It is worth mentioning, NITC has put together a highly-qualified team of specialists who will undertake the installation and deployment processes and execute it according to plan, with a predefined timeslot of six months at a project worth $915,000. STS will also implement all aspects of Sun’s services that include designing, sizing, capacity planning, back-up strategies, and mission critical support to meet NITC IT requirements.

Commenting on this key project, Nader Thneibat, Director of E-Operations at NITC said: “NITC aspires to deploy a national strategy that aims to provide latest and most comprehensive content and data that covers economical, social, and technological fields, as it guarantees an easy flow of information to all information and IT seekers.”

“The National Information Technology Center works round-the-clock to deploy the information and communication tools to assemble a wide-networked community and link public establishments with a secure national network in Jordan.” He added.
  
For her part Lina Ayesh, Director of Sun Microsystems Division at STS said, “This project comes inline with STS’ vision to provide NITC with best-in-breed products knowing that eventually it will be of great advantage to the society at large – and as we ensure the government entities are networked with high-security links, we are confident that this will benefit the society at best.”

The National Information Technology Center, is an independent public entity, adopts latest technologies at its establishments as it supports and develops IT for the public sector as a whole.

NITC acts as CTO to the government in all IT-related matters such as the procurement and deployment of IT resources, as well as carry the responsibility for the utilization, standardization and budgeting of hardware, software in addition to human and information resources.
