Music is in the air during this DSF as twenty street musicians perform diverse musical genres along the Al Riqqa Road in Deira. The musicians play classic and cultural harmonies that attract attention from huge audiences. Situated opposite Al Ghurair City, a key sponsor of DSF 2010, the venue is part of the street festivities organized this year.
Visitors can watch these musicians play on various instruments such as the cello, violin, flute, and guitar. Arabic musicians also render traditional Arabic and Middle Eastern tunes. Three out of the twenty musicians are female.
One of the female musicians is Polish violinist Anna Monica who has been playing the violin since she was seven years old. She has been in the city for almost ten years with experiences in teaching grade schools in Dubai and working in the hospitality industry as well. Anna Monica’s passion in music, something that her father highly influenced her, persists and so she now performs in various corporate events and festivals. Her music comprises of popular melody with classics from French, Italian and Latino music.
With numerous DSF activities happening in Al Riqqa, the music created by these street musicians is among the constant crowd-pullers. Street musicians play these melodic harmonies along the numerous stages in Al Riqqa Street in Deira from 5pm to 10pm on weekdays and until 11pm on weekends.
