Defending champion, Argentina's Franco Squillari cruised into the third round of the $375,000 BMW Open in Munich Wednesday, defeating Martin Damm of the Czech Republic (6-2, 6-2).
Squillari, pleased with his victory was quoted through the Associated Press saying, "I've been playing well the whole week. Everything feels just fine."
The seventh seeded left-hander now has a 7-0 winning streak on Munich's red clay, blasting a service winner on his first match point.
Sixth-seeded Fernando Meligeni of Brazil also advanced to the third round, overpowering Gaston Etlis, a qualifier from Argentina, (7-5, 3-6, 6-4), while Belarus' Max Myrnyi routed Argentina's Hernan Gumy (6-3, 6-0).
