Sabban Property Investments (SPI) recently signed a deal with the Dubai Hurricanes Rugby Football Club to become their major sponsor for the 2005-06 season. In line with their community based approach to business, SPI have made the decision to involve themselves at a local level and support rugby football, one of the increasingly popular sporting activities in the region.
Speaking about their decision to sponsor the Hurricanes, John A. Browne MBE, Managing Director of Sabban Property Investments said, “This is a first for us and we are excited to be involved with a team as successful and dynamic as the Hurricanes. They impressed us with their outstanding team spirit and as a company who are proud to ‘build bonds’, this seemed like an ideal alliance”.
Comprising of over 50 players the Dubai Hurricanes compete in the Arabian Gulf Premier League and 2nd Team Competitions, IRB Dubai 7’s competition, men’s Veterans and Ladies 7’s competitions throughout the Gulf. This year marks the team’s fifth season participating in the AGRFU league which involves regular fixtures during the season and culminates in a Championship Final in May 2006.
SPI, a Gulf-based, family-owned real estate property development company, is among the first to begin construction in the Porto Arabia harbour district of the Pearl-Qatar. Sales of the residences in the first of its 3-tower cluster started in September and have attracted a lot of interest from regional investors. Most of the 155 units have sweeping sea or picturesque views, and are available as upscale, one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom luxury apartments plus luxury penthouses. The units come in three architectural styles conceived to reflect the Pearl-Qatar’s ‘Riviera Arabia’ positioning, and will be ready for occupation in 2007.
