El Hamma national library in Algeria held earlier this week, in cooperation with "El Kalem" Association for the rehabilitation of the visually handicapped people, a literary evening, which coincided with the 12th National Day of the Braille Book.

This initiative was the first ever held by the Algerian institution, which has been marking since 1993 the Braille Book National Day on every January 31st.

The general director of the national library, Amine Zaoui vowed that similar events would be held in the future. “The national library intends to devote a large space for the visually handicapped people," he told APS.
