Spanish police arrested eight extremists Friday morning who were planning attacks in the country, Reuters reported.
The militants were also recruiting supporters to fight in Iraq and Syria, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. Officers arrested the suspects in a raid at dawn. Police are currently searching properties in four provinces in the northeast and central parts of Spain.
So far this year, Spain has arrested 21 suspected Islamist militants, according to Reuters.
