Southern Lebanon: Explosion in Hizbullah weapons depot

Published July 14th, 2009 - 10:44 GMT

According to Lebanese security officials, a blast went off in a weapons depot in the southern Lebanon village of Tibnin.  The depot was housed in an abandoned building and used in the 2006 war with Israel.

According to the Voice of Lebanon radio, the explosions were heard shortly after 7 am south of the Litani River.

There were mixed reports from Lebanese medias regarding the explosion.  One report said the arms cache belonged to Hizbullah, while another said the blast was the result of leftover bombs from the Lebanon-Israel war three years ago this summer.
