South Korean exports to the Kingdom of Jordan hit a record US$153.69 million as of the end of October 2001, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) recently disclosed.

The 10-month figure grew by 25.8 percent from the equivalent period last year and it has already surpassed last year's US$148.89 million in trade with Jordan.

Korea's trade surplus with Jordan as at October totaled US$145 million, up 35.5 percent year-on-year.

The bulk of the exports to Jordan comprised: information technology products, refrigerators, elevators, mobile phones, and automobiles. Auto exports reached US$64 million, marking growth of US$64 million from the same period last year.

A Korean official forecasted that total exports to Jordan would hit US$180 million this year due to the growth in the Jordanian economy.

King Abdullah has recently called on South Korea to increase investment in Jordan, especially in free trade zones. (Albawaba.com)
