Reliable Jordanian sources informed Al Bawaba that the government had decided in principle to return back its ambassador to Tel Aviv. According to these sources, the Jordanian move aims at providing further support to the US-backed Middle East peace plan - the "road map". The envoy is expected to return "soon," the sources disclosed.

Earlier this month, the Jordanian Foreign minister Marwan Muasher has denied the existence of any agreement with Israel in order to bring back the Jordanian envoy to it.

Egypt and Jordan lowered their diplomatic representation in Israel in late 2000 in protest at what they saw as Israel's excessive use of force against Palestinians in the fighting that began in September that year. While Egypt withdrew its ambassador from Tel Aviv, Jordan decided not to send its newly-appointed ambassador. (Albawaba.com)
