Two suicide bombers wearing explosive vests with explosives blew themselves up in separate attacks in Iraq on Thursday, killing almost 70 people, many of them Iranian pilgrims, police said.
A suicide bomber killed at least 40 people in a restaurant northeast of Baghdad on Thursday, Iraqi police said, according to Reuters. All but two of the 40 dead were Iranians visiting Shi'ite Muslim religious sites in Iraq, police said. Almost 70 people were wounded.
The bombing in the capital occurred just after noon as Iraqi police were distributing aid parcels in the central neighborhood of Karradah, according to the office of the main Baghdad military spokesman. At least 28 people were killed, five of them children, police said.
