Some 2.5 million tourists visited Morocco in 2000, Morocco’s official news agency (MAP) reported.

Officials at the Moroccan tourism department were quoted by the agency as saying that the figure will jump to 4 million in 2003 and 10 million in 2010.

To attain this objective, Morocco intends to increase accommodation to 30,000 beds in 2003 and 160,000 in 2010, they said.

Morocco and “Liwa” group, an international tourism investment company, signed early this month a convention, worth 200 million DH ($19,04 million) for the renovation and extension of the Liwa-owned three Sheraton hotels in Casablanca – Albawaba.com
