Somali President Abdulkassim Salat Hassan left Djibouti on Saturday for the the Somali capital Mogadishu, where he was due to announce the formation of a new government in the next few days, reported (AFP)
Abdulkassim was accompanied by his newly appointed Prime Minister Ali Khalif Galaydh and other members of the Transitional National Parliament (TNP), created in neighboring Djibouti on August 13.
Before his departure, Salat paid a courtesy call on Djibouti President Omar Ismail Guelleh, who sponsored the Somali peace process.
Somali delegates attending the inter-clan conference earlier this year in Djibouti established a 245-member transitional parliament, which appointed Salat as interim president.
Somalia has been without a central government since the 1991 overthrow of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre.
Salat, who was elected president by the parliament on August 25, later paid a three-day visit to Mogadishu, where he received by thousands of supporters.
Salat's entourage was expected to land later in the day at Balidogle airport, 90 kilometres (56 miles) west of Mogadishu.
