Dell has announced the Dell Latitude™ D620 and Latitude D820 - slimmer and lighter notebook computers featuring wireless broadband connectivity, biometrics security, extended durability and Intel® Core Duo™ processors.  Responding to business demands for stronger computing power, the Dell Latitude D620 and D820 are available immediately to customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Next-Generation Notebooks Packed with Features
Starting weight for the Latitude D620 is from 4.41 pounds / 2.00kg1 and includes an Intel® Core Duo processor with a wide aspect 14.1-inch WXGA display, 512MB shared2 DDR2 memory, 40GB3 SATA hard drive and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi capability. A base configuration for the Latitude D820 (starting weight 5.6 pounds/ 2.54kg4) includes an Intel® Core Duo processor with a wide aspect 15.4-inch WXGA display, 512MB DDR2 shared2 memory, 40GB3 SATA hard drive and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi capability.  For both models, wireless broadband connectivity will be delivered through Vodafone5.

Dell proactively worked with customers to develop features and design enhancements for these two products and major attributes of the Latitude D620 and D820 include:
• HyperConnected - enables a true “work anywhere” workforce, with users staying connected and productive regardless of where their business takes them.
o Connection option available through Vodafone in Europe5 and a choice between Cingular and Verizon Wireless in the US.
o Pre-configured for 802.11n6, a wireless specification that is set to significantly increase throughput and range of current Wi-Fi-enabled hardware.
• Smart Security – helps IT managers provide appropriate system and network access while protecting sensitive data from illicit access.
o Integrated new optional biometric fingerprint reader, Smart Card, Trusted Platform Module (TPM1.2) to provide choice to customers in ensuring authorised access to data.
o Users can easily enable and manage any or all of these security technologies with the Dell Embassy Trust Suite software application that is pre-loaded.
o Locate missing notebooks and delete data remotely with embedded support for CompuTrace theft recovery and asset tracking software.
• RoadReady™ Quality Durability - RoadReady quality designates a durable design and rigorous testing to help ensure systems stand up to wear and tear for the long haul.
o Full magnesium alloy casing contributes to solid fit and finish while protecting sensitive internal components.
o Sealed, spill-resistant keyboards, full-time hard drive protection with StrikeZone™, metal-reinforced security slots are included standard on all models.
• Innovative Design – increases productivity with features based on real-life work conditions and requirements.
o New designs are thinner and lighter than previous generation.
o Wi-Fi Catcher helps find wireless connections without turning on or booting up, and Location Profiler makes it easy to configure settings for a variety of networks or locations.
o Increase productivity with wide-aspect displays that have 30 percent more screen7 area and high-capacity batteries for all-day computing8.

Users of the Dell Latitude D620 and D820 can configure either system with battery-saving Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 or high-performance NVIDIA® Quadro NVS TurboCache™ graphics solutions. Adhering to Dell’s Design for the Environment programme, both new systems meet the requirements of the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive9.
The new systems feature the Latitude™ three-year limited warranty with international next–business-day, on-site service.
