Six senses hideaway honours earth hour

Multi award-winning global resort and spa operators  Six Senses Resorts & Spas was involved in the ‘Earth Hour’ activity after it signed up to join the world-wide initiative. Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay had shut off the lights throughout the resort on Friday 29th March for one hour and invited guests to join by switching off their villa lights as well. Last week, the hosts had a training session about ‘Earth Hour’ and were provided detailed insights and instructions on how to prevent global warming through chosen activities in their daily lives.

Six Senses Hideaway, in Zighy Bay, Oman; is a distinguished “hideaway” resort that hosts 82 luxury private pool villas and pool villa suites, including an exclusive private Reserve and Retreats, celebrated the simple act that had captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world. At 8 pm March 29th, 2008 millions of people in some of the world’s major capital cities switched off light for the ‘Earth Hour’, turning a symbolic event into a global movement. Turning the lights off for Earth Hour is a great first step, but if one really wants to make a difference, then one should make Earth Hour part of everyday life. Simple actions like turning off appliances while not in use and changing light bulbs to energy efficient bulbs; will all contribute to reach the goal of reducing annual emissions by 5%.

Naim Maadad, Managing Director – Middle East, Six Senses Resorts & Spas  “Earth hour is an extremely significant campaign worldwide and we believe that it is a must for individuals to participate in order to achieve a brighter tomorrow. We were really excited to be part of this initiative and will continue to support the environment we live in.”
