Six Iraqis were killed and 16 wounded when a public bus in which they were traveling near the northern city of Kirkuk caught fire, a Kurdish newspaper said Saturday.

The wounded suffered severe burns in Friday's incident on the road to Hawiga, some 55 kilometers west of Kirkuk, reported Khabat, mouthpiece of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

According to the paper, the fire was started by highly flammable materials, which a passenger had been hiding. These included materials used to manufacture explosives and a quantity of sulfur, it added. (Albawaba.com)
