Russian security forces Friday arrested six Iranians at the far-eastern port of Nakhodka for trying to enter Japan illegally, local authorities said.
The Iranians, found in a Russian ship headed for Japan, were to be deported although they held Russian visas.
A total of 12 Iranian nationals have been arrested while trying to enter Japan since the start of the year in the Primorye region.
Authorities there say Russian sailors have made a lucrative business out of accepting clandestine passengers, despite being liable to fines of 2,000 dollars a time -- VLADIVOSTOK, Russia (AFP)
