SITA To Host The Biggest Africa Aviation ICT Forum In Cairo

SITA, the specialist provider of communications and IT solutions to the world's air transport industry, is taking a lead role in the 2010 African Aviation ICT Forum, held in Cairo , 25 - 26th of May.

 

The Aviation ICT Forum, jointly organised by SITA, AFRAA and ACI Africa, has become one of the most prestigious events in Africa. Now in its 3rd year, is the number one forum for African Air transport leaders to consider the strategic direction of the industry, discussing the issues it faces and the role of IT and communications in helping to address challenges and opportunities.

With around 100  Senior Aviation Executives attending the event, and the strongest ever speaker line, this year’s ICT Forum will focus on main strategies and business technologies enabling sustainable industry growth in Africa through the next ‘digital decade’.

SITA has worked closely with leading Industry Associations in Africa, such as IATA, AFRAA, AACO, ACI and ICAO on a number of different Aviation Community Initiatives. Some of these are various  platforms for better cost efficiencies, faster and improved ROI, and generation of new sources of revenues along which identifying ICT as a main enabler, in various areas such as business transformation, infrastructure and communications, passenger management and facilitation, airport management services and operations and cargo solutions.

 

Transportation Safety and Security is another major theme this year. In preparation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Tournament, SITA provided South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs with the most advanced border management solution available today, Advance Passenger Processing (APP). SITA’s APP will facilitate the arrival and departure of football fans next month while enhancing security and reducing both administration and turnaround costs for airlines.
