Shooting attack injures worker near Qalqilya; Israeli shot in Gaza Strip as Israel braces for new wave of attacks

Shots were fired Sunday evening at construction workers building the "separation fence" near the West Bank city of Qalqilya.  

 

The shots were reportedly fired from the direction of Qalqilya at a group of workers building the "security fence".  

 

According to Israel Radio, one construction worker, who is a foreign worker, was injured and has been taken to hospital for treatment, where his condition is said to be light to moderate.  

 

Earlier Sunday, an Israeli truck driver sustained moderate-to-serious wounds in the morning after being shot by a Palestinian sniper near the hothouses of Rafah Yam, a settlement in the southern Gaza Strip, Israel Radio reported. Hamas claimed responsibility for the shooting attack. 

 

Meanwhile, the Israeli army is expecting that several serious attacks will be carried out against Israel in the near future. The most serious alerts pertain to the West Bank city of Hebron, in which it is known that Hamas and Islamic Jihad cells are planning attacks.  

 

Israel Radio reported Sunday that police have received 32 specific warnings of imminent attacks. (Albawaba.com)
