Sheikh Saud honours top scorers in the General Secondary School Certificate examination

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, today presented the RAK Award for Creativity and Excellence to outstanding students from the emirate who scored top marks in the General Secondary School Certificate examination.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Saud congratulated the students for their excellent academic achievements. "UAE government has always considered education as the foremost national developmental priority and has devoted considerable national resources for enhancing the quality of education. Therefore, it is an honour to recognize excellence in education as it reflects positively on the human capital formation and the country's capacity to achieve its national goals," Sheikh Saud said.

He also called upon the students to continue their hard work and dedication while pursuing their higher education and become role models for the youth in the country. He also thanked the parents and teachers who had contributed towards the success of the students.

As many as 47 students, comprising 36 girls and 11 boys, were presented with the awards. The award comprises a financial grant and certificate. The RAK Award for Creativity and Excellence was instituted by the Government to promote and honour excellence and best practices in the education sector of the emirate.

The winners in the 'Reading is my hobby' campaign launched recently by the RAK Award for Creativity and Excellence to promote reading habits among students were also honoured at the function.

Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Finance Department and Head of the board of trustees of RAK Award for Creativity and Excellence, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Mansoor, General Secretary of the Award Board, Abdulla Hammad Al Shehhi, Director of Ras Al Khaimah Education Zone and a number of dignitaries were present at the function.
