Likud prime ministerial candidate Ariel Sharon may appoint his son, Omri, to either director-general of the prime minister's office or to another senior position should Sharon win the elections, reported Haaretz newspaper in its online edition.

The possibility of appointing Omri Sharon to head the office of another ministry chaired by a Likud member is also being investigated, said the paper.

In recent days, Sharon's associates have checked whether it would be possible from a legal standpoint for Omri Sharon to hold such a position due to the family relations involved.

Last month, Omri, along with two of his father's aides, held secret talks with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's aide in Vienna. The talks reportedly focused on Jericho Casino -- Albawaba.com
