Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s economic advisor, Gabi Fishman, resigned from his post on Sunday, reported Haaretz newspaper.
His resignation will come into effect in July, said the paper, adding that Fishman would return to his former job as assistant director of the monetary policy at the Bank of Israel.
Fishman, 40, served for many years as the media advisor for former Bank of Israel governor Jacob Frenkel, and also for the current governor, David Klein.
According to the paper, when Fishman was appointed as Sharon’s economic advisor, he was not welcomed by some of the premier’s office staff.
Sharon’s office released a statement, saying that Fishman resigned because the “Civil Service Commission did not approve his position at the Prime Minister’s Office due to Fishman’s refusal to resign from the Bank of Israel.” - Albawaba.com
