Twenty-four Arab human rights organizations on Saturday condemn the September 11 "terrorist" attacks against the United States and expressed "great concern" over anti-Arab feelings there.
In a statement faxed to AFP Amman, the organizations "condemned" the attacks which caused the "spilling of blood of thousands of innocent Americans and non-Americans."
"Based on the same principle, Arab human rights groups, which have condemned the barbaric aggressions against Palestinians and Iraqis, condemn this savage attack against the United States," the statement said.
The organizations also expressed "great concern" over what they called a wave of "racial discrimination" against Arabs and Muslims even before the announcement of any definitive conclusions over who was responsible for the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon outside Washington.
Several attacks directed against Islamic religious and cultural centers have been reported in the United States in the wake of the September 11 attacks.
Bahraini, Moroccan, Jordanian, Syrian, Yemeni, Palestinian, Egyptian and Sudanese human rights groups were among the signatories of the statement -- AMMAN (AFP)
