Seven laborers were injured Friday when fire broke out on board an oil tanker they were repairing at the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (Asry) in Manama, reported the Gulf Daily News.
The Bangladeshi and Indian workers were taken by ambulance to the Sulmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) emergency room.
Three men were treated and released, said a hospital source.
Four others suffering from smoke inhalation and superficial burns were admitted to a general ward for observation.
The source said none of the injuries were life-threatening.
The laborers - who are all Asry employees - were repairing a tank on board the oil tanker, Olympic Breeze, which is in dry dock at the yard.
Asry public relations manager Ahmed Abdulla Al Rayes told the paper that the fire had broken out shortly after 2 a.m. (Bahrain local time).
"The Bahrain Civil Defense and Fire Brigade were called to the scene," he said. "However, our workers managed to put out the blaze using ship and plant fire extinguishers."
