A settler was killed and two others were injured Tuesday evening in a shooting attack on the vehicle in which they were travelling, close to the Talmon settlement, west of the West Bank city of Ramallah.
The injured men both sustained light-to-moderate injuries. One was evacuated to a Jerusalem hospital for medical treatment and the other was treated in the Talmon settlement.
According to Israeli media reports, the Palestinian attackers fled the scene of the shooting.
Earlier, Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon raised the possibility that his army would one day leave the Gaza Strip, occupied by Israel in the 1967 War.
"I hope the day will come when we will not have to sit in the (Gaza) Strip," Sharon said in a speech to Bedouin soldiers, which was broadcast on Army Radio. (Albawaba.com)
