A high-ranking Iranian official arrived in Moscow on Tuesday for three days of consultations with Russian diplomats expected to focus on nuclear non-proliferation issues, Interfax reported.
Zamani Nia, the Iranian foreign ministry's general director for international policy issues, would review "an extensive range of disarmament and export control issues" in the course of his visit, the news agency said, quoting a Russian source.
His visit comes following Moscow's announcement last month that it planned to expand its nuclear cooperation with Tehran beyond existing projects. Additionally, they are expected to discuss Russia’s reported inability to guarantee the return from Iran of spent nuclear reactor fuel, which could theoretically be used in so-called "dirty bombs."
