The Mirinda stall at Modhesh Fun City has become a highlight of this year’s Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS). Mirinda, a key DSS sponsor is witnessing a growing number of participants at their exciting fun-filled games stall at Hall 5 in the Dubai World Trade Centre.

More than 500 children have participated in the exciting line-up for board games and puzzles organised by the popular Mirinda brand, since the commencement of their events on Wednesday.

The innovative activities include Mirinda puzzles and an imitation of Modhesh on the board intended to keep kids enthralled during the ongoing 10-week summer extravaganza which will run until August end.

May El-Labban, Marketing Projects Manager, Dubai Refreshments Company (DRC), said: “We planned the games, activities and competitions, keeping in mind all age groups, to engage them in a fun, creative and meaningful way. The summer school break is an ideal time to tap children’s originality and intelligence while keeping them entertained at the same time.”

Activities at the Mirinda stand are open to children within the age group of 5 and 7 years and above. In the drawing board game, participants are given a minimum time limit of 2 minutes to imitate the Modhesh cartoon placed at the centre of the stall. The winner is judged based on final appearance of the cartoon displayed and accuracy of the image.

Saania Jamal, the eight-year-old winner of the drawing board game, said, “I was very excited after winning so many prizes. I love to draw and paint. Sketching the Modhesh gave me ample opportunity to let someone notice my creative side at the Mirinda drawing board competition. “

Her father, Jamal, said, “My daughter could not move from the game stand until she finished the puzzle. She was happy to be among the other kids and was keen on continuing the game long after it finished.”

Commenting on her eleven-year-old son’s win in the drawing competition, Muhammad Masood added: “I was unaware of his hidden skill and potential in art. He finished the Modhesh drawing in less than the required time span in a very artistic fashion. Later this year, I will register her for art classes to further nurture her talent.”

El-Labban added: “We are pleased with the overwhelming response to the activities by both the children and their parents and hope to see more children in the next few weeks. So far, we are witnessing around 125 youngsters at the Mirinda games on a daily basis and hope many more children will benefit from our thrilling games and gifts galore at the stand.”

A raffle draw will be held every Thursday at 6pm and winners will be entitled to a range of exciting prizes which include CD’s, MP3 players, Scooter boards and sports watches. In addition, all participants will receive gloves, t-shirts, thermo mugs, caps and towels sponsored by Mirinda at the game stand. It is the first time the popular Mirinda brand has sponsored Dubai’s annual summer festival.

Dubai Refreshments Company, the sole franchisee and distributor for PepsiCo in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, had supported DSS since 2003 with the 7UP brand.

DRC’s product portfolio includes Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, 7UP, Diet 7UP, Mountain Dew, Mirinda Orange, Mirinda Green Apple, Mirinda Citrus, Shani, Evervess Soda, Evervess Tonic, Evervess Ginger Ale, and Aquafina pure drinking water.
