Foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria, during a coordination meeting in Tadmur Thursday, called on peace sponsors, the European Union and all parties to intensify their efforts on all peace tracks and achieve comprehensive peace.
Syrian foreign minister Farouq Shara and his Saudi and Egyptian counterparts, Prince Saud Faisal and Amr Moussa asserted the strategic choice of peace, in line with the Madrid accord, the international legitimacy resolutions 242,338 and the principle of land-for-peace.
During a press conference held after the meeting, Shara was quoted by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) as saying that "the ministers discussed the latest developments in the region and the outcome of peace on all tracks especially the Syrian and the Lebanese tracks."
According to the Syrian News Agency, the ministers expressed their support to Syria's adherence and readiness to make the peace process succeed.
The three ministers also underlined the importance of comprehensive Israeli withdrawal from the Lebanese lands, sea, and airspace to the internationally recognized borders according to Security Council resolutions 425,426 without conditions, the agency said.
They all held Israel responsible for hindering peace and agreed on the importance of respecting all Palestinian right to establish an independent state including Jerusalem as a capital - (Agencies)
