Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has reportedly described Prime Minister Saad Hariri's shock resignation as “Saudi madness.”

“What happened is Saudi madness and we will await the coming days,” al-Jadeed TV quoted Nasrallah as telling hundreds of leaders of the Hezbollah-affiliated Resistance Brigades during a closed-door meeting.

“I do not foresee an imminent war and the next war will be fateful and decisive,” Nasrallah added.

Hezbollah's media department had announced Saturday that Nasrallah “will make a televised address tomorrow, Sunday at 6:00 pm to comment on PM Saad Hariri’s resignation and the latest political developments.”

Hariri announced Saturday that he was stepping down, citing Iran's "grip" on Lebanon and what he called threats to his life.

In a speech broadcast from Saudi Arabia by the Al-Arabiya news network, Hariri accused Tehran of "creating a state within the state... to the extent that it gets the final say on how Lebanon's affairs are run."

"Iran has a grip on the fate of the region's countries," Hariri said. "Hezbollah's is Iran's arm not just in Lebanon but in other Arab countries too," he added.
