A Saudi border guard was shot dead in a gunfight with traffickers in a southern province on the border with Yemen, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Al-Riyadh, without giving a date for the incident in Jizan, said the gunmen were trying to smuggle in qat, a mildly narcotic plant that is legal in Yemen but banned in Saudi Arabia, where the maximum penalty for drug trafficking is death – (AFP)
