Saudi Arabia and Iran are emphasizing the need to expand their cooperation in the media sector, according to reports.

In a meeting held on Wednesday between Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ahmad Masjed-Jamei and Saudi Arabian Minister of Information Fouad bin Abd Al Salim bin Muhammad Farsi, the two sides stressed the necessity of expanding such cooperation, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).

Masjed-Jamei said the establishment of news agency offices in the two countries' capitals in recent months had prepared the ground for both sides to promote their cooperation in media fields.

He also asked for further expansion of bilateral relations in other cultural fields, cinema in particular, said the agency.

Farsi, for his part, while considering as "positive" the current meeting of the Follow-Up Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference information ministers, asked for further promotion of media cooperation between the two countries – Albawaba.com
