The Saudi Information Ministry has confiscated more than 60,000 videotapes and CDs from three stores in Riyadh for violating regulations on printed materials, publishing and copyright protection, reported the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Sunday.

An assistant undersecretary for internal information, Misfir Al Misfir, told SPA that “these stores and their personnel will be punished" under the regulations.

“Based on instructions from Information Minister Fuad Al Farsi, the internal information department has been intensifying its inspection campaigns on video, audio recordings and students services stores,” he said.

He added these campaigns had resulted in the levying of 510 penalties against violators in a six-months period – Albawaba.com
