Amman – Kuwait - H.H. Sheik Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award’s Board of Trustees awarded Informatics Medal to Arab Sat, the leading satellite services provider in the Arab world, for the exquisite role they play in the Arab region.
The Board illustrated that Arab Sat, being committed to stay at the forefront of best-in-class satellite services in the MENA region, has managed to reach more than 164 million viewers in 80 countries from around the world, linking the Arab World’s via top-notch telecommunication and digital broadcasting technologies.
According to the Board, the medal’s inauguration will be celebrated in a closing ceremony, under H.H. Sheik Sabah Al Ahmad’s patronage.
Arab Sat has distinguished itself in Information Technology and ICT as they laid out the first Arab Satellite in outer space. It is the first establishment to offer Digital Satellite services in the region, and one of the first organizations to introduce satellite-based internet in the Arab region. Arab Sat has reached a premium status between operators in the MENA region, and also won the 9th slot according to company size, between operators worldwide.
It is worth mentioning that the board of trustees began offering Informatics Medal in 2007. It is the highest award that could be offered in the informatics development field. It was awarded to Dr. Ahmad Naheef, Egypt’s Prime Minister, in 2007 and Alexandria’s Library in Egypt, in 2008.
