After long and extensive negotiations, Egyptian actress and Goodwill Ambassador to the UN, Safia Al Umari has agreed to taking on a role, much different from her typical characters.
The actress will replace her previous elegant attire with long robes and majestic hats with a headscarf for her most recent upcoming role; a new TV series, Harat Al Mi’az (Neighborhood of Goats), reported ‘Al Ittihad’ daily newspaper.
The UAE daily stated that starring alongside Umari will be Kamal Abu Riyah, Ahmad Khalil, Butheina Rashwan, Manal Salamah, Riyad Al Khawli and many more.
The story revolves around ‘The Goats Neighborhood,’ an area in old Cairo. It depicts the tale of two people who represent opposite sides of the moral spectrum. One character is a down to earth, moral man who hates manipulation and another man, who strives only for his own well-being and greed.
On the political level, the series takes on the theme of Cairo, prior to the revolution and after. The show also sheds light on how the revolution changed the mannerisms and principles of the Egyptian people – Albawaba.com.
