ALBAWABA - Tasnim News Agency reported that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu will be visiting Tehran on Tuesday where he will meet with senior Iranian defense officials.
Tasnim went on to say that Shoigu would meet with key Iranian officials, including his Iranian counterpart, to discuss defense cooperation and regional developments.
Since Western sanctions were imposed on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Tehran and Moscow have strengthened bilateral ties, particularly in the military arena.
Earlier this month, Iranian media reported that the country's air force had received a shipment of Russian YAK-130 training aircraft, with the goal of improving the air force's training and combat capabilities. The US expressed concern in May that Tehran and Moscow were "expanding their unprecedented defense partnership".
