ALBWABA - Following the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed his potential visit to North Korea next month at a press conference, TASS reported.

"In accordance with the decision of [North Korean leader] Kim Jong Un and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, we will arrange my talks in Pyongyang, which may indeed take place next month," Lavrov told journalists in a press conference.

Lavrov noted that following the conversations with the North Korean leader, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a series of press statements in which he clearly stated all the areas of cooperation that they had discussed and agreed to deepen during their meeting.

Earlier this month, North Korean leader Kim Jung Un visited Russia where he met with President Vladimir Putin, and both leaders held talks to discuss bilateral ties, military cooperation, the war in Ukraine, and potential Russian support for North Korea’s satellite program.

Kim has met President Vladimir Putin and visited key military and technical centers since arriving in Russia on an armored train earlier in August, raising concerns about a possible weapons partnership between the two nations.

The United States and South Korea have both expressed concern that North Korea may supply Russia with weapons and ammunition for its war on Ukraine.

Toward the end of his visit to Russia, North Korea's Kim received five explosive drones, a reconnaissance drone, and a bulletproof vest as gifts from a regional governor on his visit to Russia.

The Ria Novosti agency published a video of Kim's departure and said a "departure ceremony" was held at the Artyom-Primorsky-1 station

Moscow is believed to be interested in obtaining North Korean weaponry to continue fighting in Ukraine, while Pyongyang is thought to seek Russia's assistance in polishing its globally condemned missile program.
