ALBAWABA- The latest round of negotiations between Russia and the United States regarding the Ukraine war wrapped up after a record 12-hour session in Saudi Arabia on Monday.

This meeting, the longest in a series of diplomatic efforts since February 18, involved senior officials from both nations, including Russia’s Foreign Minister and the U.S. Secretary of State.

According to reports, Moscow and Washington coordinated a joint statement, set for release on Tuesday. Before the talks, Russian delegate Grigory Karasin expressed hope that they could resolve "at least one issue," though he refrained from specifying which.

Meanwhile, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov stated that discussions focused primarily on navigating the potential implementation of the Black Sea grain initiative, a critical issue amid the ongoing war.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky weighed in on former U.S. President Donald Trump's approach to the conflict, suggesting that Trump is unwilling to accept any deal that appears as a loss to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky, in an interview with Time Magazine, claimed that Trump could pressure Moscow into concessions, as he appears to be "the only one Putin fears."

Zelensky also suggested that Russian misinformation has influenced the White House, but acknowledged that the Trump administration remains Ukraine’s strongest ally.

He pointed out that the Kremlin showed significant concern when Trump’s team previously threatened sanctions over Russia’s continued bombing of Ukrainian cities.

According to Zelensky, Trump’s administration sees securing a diplomatic victory in Ukraine as a way to solidify Trump’s legacy on the global stage.
